Mellow Birthday
Pete's birthday was Saturday and we had such a great birthday weekend celebrating with friends and family.
We started off the weekend with Beth's birthday at U.S. Sushi. It's always nice to get together and see friends that you haven't seen in a while. It's so easy for everyday life to get in the way. The days go by too quickly and it's easy to realize that it's been months since you have seen people. It's just a great reminder to make an effort to spend time with friends.
Saturday night we celebrated Pete's actual birthday with friends at Mellow Mushroom. Pete and I got there early to reserve the table and enjoy some alone time with each other before everyone arrived. We sat at the bar and had pretzels and beer paddles. It was wonderful.
Fortunately, getting there early also gave us a chance to miss a horrible storm that came through. Unfortunately, we had a lot of friends who had to get out in the weather to come to the birthday party. And we are thankful for each and everyone that did so. Dinner was great and it was wonderful to see everyone. I ordered a cake with black icing for dessert, knowing that the icing would color people's lips. Pete's modeling his rocker look here (a little dark, but you can still see the icing on his lips).
It was a great end to a great weekend. I am so thankful that 35 years ago he was born and that I have spent 13 of those years with him.

Today, we had his birthday party with his family. And of course, more cake. Here's Pete right after blowing out his candles.
